On January 24th this year we all rejoiced as Mel Nurse and Co finally brought the club back to the fans. Suddenly, less than 7 weeks later, an awful lot of people seem to think that they are on the verge of destroying the club they fought so hard to save. It’s not only Mel and Co who have come under fire this week, the Supporters’ Trust have also been accused of not having the fans best interests at heart. I, for one, am amazed that people seem to have such short memories.

Mel Nurse and the rest of the management committee took charge of the Swans to make sure that the club was finally brought back to where it belonged, in the hands of local people, people who loved the club and whose actions would always benefit Swansea City Football Club, people who would not use the club as a vehicle for their own financial gain unlike past owners. To do this, the committee stated that they would wipe the slate clean and throw out any remnants of the old regime. On that basis it was made clear to the likes of Mike Lewis and the rest of his cronies that they would no longer be welcome at the Vetch. We all agreed that we didn’t want Lewis or anyone else connected with the man to darken our doors again. What has this got to do with Addo and Nicholas you may ask? Well, in my opinion, the recently departed management duo were a little bit to close to Lewis for my liking!!!. Let’s not forget who brought them to the club, yes Mike Lewis. Lets also not forget who went to see the last Welsh international with Addo and Nicholas, yes Mike Lewis and lets not forget who is allegedly touting Addo as the next manager of Exeter City, yes (you guessed it) Mike Lewis.

Obviously the current financial situation at the club has had a bearing on the decision to dispense with Addo and Nico’s services and I’m sure that Nicholas’ issuing of ultimatums and constant rumours of his alleged connections with Llanelli AFC have not helped matters in the slightest. By the way, Llanelli have today sacked their management team, read into that what you will!!!.

The current “crisis” has also brought comments from a few people who we’ve been trying hard to forget. Both Neil McLure and Tony Petty have decided to give us their “opinions” over the last 48 hours. Why, I don’t know, we never cared for much they said when they were at Swansea and I’m sure you’ll agree with me when I say that we care even less now!!!

The simple fact is the management committee came into the club blind. They had no idea what sort of financial mess the club was in when they took over (a certain Mr Petty wouldn’t let them look at the books) and now they’re trying their best to secure the financial future of OUR club! By entering into a CVA, our creditors will receive payments from the Swans, something they certainly won’t get if we cease to exist. Once the Inland Revenue and the rest of our creditors are paid off we can start again with a clean slate with no trace of the past. No skeletons in the closet and with a “board” that wants to do the best for Swansea City Football Club.

Please don’t think that I’m anti-Addo and Nicholas, they did a great job in keeping us in the football league and for that I thank them. But being a manager is not just about getting points, it’s also about people management and from what we’ve heard about alleged arguments and disagreements (the Orient away game being the prime example) it sounds like everything wasn’t rosy in the Swansea dressing room and unless you have respect for your manager it can be very difficult to perform for him on the pitch (lets not forget peoples opinions of Hollins before he left and the effect that had on team morale)

The simple fact is, Colin Addison and Peter Nicholas are no longer in charge of Swansea City Football Club they have been consigned to Vetch field history along with the likes of Frank Burrows, Jan Molby and all our other past managers, good and bad.

Instead, at the helm, we have Nick Cusack and Roger Freestone, Nick and Roger have the full backing and total respect of the playing staff and from what I’ve heard, the atmosphere on the team bus on the way to Carlisle this weekend was better than ever. The players and fans have total respect for Nick and Roger and I’m sure you’ll join me in wishing them all the best for the rest of the season.

As for the management committee, this week has been their first real “test” in the running of our club and I believe the history books will show that they came through it with flying colours. Lets not forget that they are FANS just like we are, Mel Nurse, David Morgan and Leigh Dineen have been season ticket holders for years and there is no way that these guys would do anything to endanger the future of the club that we all love. When the chips were down, they put their money were their mouths were and risked everything to save our club!!!

So let’s get behind them and help them secure the future of Swansea City Football Club. After all, they brought the club BACK TO THE FANS. Surely it’s not too much to ask for the fans to BACK THEM???

Until next weekรขโ‚ฌยฆรขโ‚ฌยฆรขโ‚ฌยฆ.
