Firstly staff wages will have to be at a level the club can afford and every thing from the centre of excellence to the club shop must become cost effective or even better make a profit for the club. These I believe are things that the management committee should be putting into force at the earliest chance (if they have not already) The incentive of offering cheap seats for children I feel this is magic and should be adopted long-term as these children are the Swans fans of the future. Getting children hooked on the live game now I feel is of the utmost importance. Anyone can see football (and all the replays) on the television whenever they want, but this cannot compete with the thrill of attending a live game, experiencing the atmosphere that’s generated. Maybe the club could incorporate the use of a Childs discount club membership card, which could in effect put extra revenue into the club. Incorporating a photograph and the age of the child on the card, could stop misuse of the system so if they don’t have their card they don’t get the discount Kids of today don’t tend to spend money on watching football games. They would rather spend their money elsewhere, so we have to look at ways of encouraging them through the turn styles, any ideas? So lets look at the clubs long-term future, not just the short term as we have done in the past. In 10-years time we need today’s children to be the singers on the north bank. But we need a plan to get them there. I believe this club has always seen itself as being big enough to over spend? And it comes as no surprise the amount of other football clubs who have financial problems where the expenditure exceeds their income and there is no dispute that in the past Swansea has been one of them. Now the real supporters are running the club, I think the club needs (for a while anyway) for the purse strings to be held tight to give us a chance of survival. Wages will have to be in line with the clubs budget. It a poor reflection on society when we pay our footballers such good money and our nurses so little (David Beckham wants รยฃ150,000 per week; a nurse will have to work 6 to 7 years for the same amount.) What are your views on this? Is there anyone out there who has views on how to entice our children into the vetch? Or are there any other views you would like to discuss? Let me know. Dave H |
