Rushworth turns down offers to stay at Swansea

Reports this morning have suggested that on loan Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth has turned down opportunities to leave the Swans during this window and will remain at the club for the extent of his loan – the end of the season.

Rushworth, who had the good fortune to sit out the shambles at Bournemouth last night, has been one of the high points on what has turned into a pretty dismal season for the Swans and there were fears that he could be recalled by Brighton during this window and loaned (or even sold) elsewhere.

However, the reports from Football Insider this morning suggest that whilst there has been interest in the goalkeeper he has elected to stay at Swansea and complete his loan spell.ย  ย  This has to be good news for Luke Williams because, despite his dodgy defence, Rushworth has a command to his area and has also proven that he is an excellent shot stopper whilst under pressure.

Indeed, had it not been for the keeper last Saturday then the five goals conceded twice on the South Coast this season could have been alot worse so thankful for small mercies and all that on the day.

Hopefully the Fish will swim away in the summer. A taylor's dummy would be better in goal.

Been watching the Swans since the very late 1970s and running the Planet Swans website (in all its current and previous guises since the summer of 2001 As it stood JackArmy.net was right at the forefront of some of the activity against Tony Petty back in 2001, breaking many of the stories of the day as fans stood against the actions where the local media failed. Was involved with the Swans Supporters Trust from 2005, for the large part as Chairman before standing down in the summer of 2020.
