Half time – Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 Swansea City

It’s reached half time at Hillsborough and the Swans find themselves a goal down at the break with Cadamateri’s goal five minutes before the interval the difference between the two sides.ย  ย Do we have enough to turn it around in the second half?

After the derby victory by some comfort two weeks ago the Swans made just one voluntary change from the starting line up against Cardiff with Jay Fulton in for Joe Allen presumably with one eye on the fact that we have two games in four days – surely we will now anticipate Allen starting on Monday against QPR?ย  The other change of course was Josh Key coming in for the injured Kyle Naughton as the first real time to see how he and Ronald link up together.

The Swans were under pressure in the opening moments of the game as Wednesday started as they hoped to go on and a first minute header was covered by Rushworth at the near post as it went wide of the target but it was an early warning for the Swans that the afternoon was going to be far from easy.

After the frantic nature of the opening few minutes were navigated by the Swans the next period saw us maintain plenty of possession but largely without a purpose bar one shot from Placheta from outside the area that got the keeper to make a save but one of the easiest saves he will have this season as the Swans tried to take control of the game.ย  Possession for the Swans at the twenty minute mark reached as high as eighty percent but it was much closer to the one seen at Bristol City compared to the one that downed Cardiff.

Swansea’s possession without a purpose was caught out with five minutes of the first half remaining whenย  free kick from the right hand touchline was touched in at the far post by Cadamarteri.ย  Unfortunately after the highs of the game against Cardiff this first half was as typical as anything we had seen from Swansea City this season and it was no real surprise that the home side had taken the lead into the interval.ย  ย 73% possession and one shot at goal in the opening forty five minutes tells you all you need to know.
