“Not Good Enough” – Breitenreiter delivers his verdict on Huddersfield performance

Huddersfield Town could find themselves confirmed as a League One club this time next week if they see anything like the same result that saw the Swans win 4-0 on their patch and left the home crowd singing “you’re not fit to wear the shirt”

As the Swans pushed on to score a total of four goals ignited by a solo effort from Jamal Lowe to kick it off , Huddersfield saw their relegation fears increase greatly as the home fans streamed out of the ground and those that were left showed their displeasure at what they were watching.

The Terriers will welcome Birmingham to the John Smith’s Stadium next Saturday knowing that their future is in their own hands.ย  ย That said, defeat will see them relegated to League One whilst a draw would mean they go to promotion chasing Ipswich on the last weekend looking for a win to secure their status in the Championship.ย  ย It is therefore no surprise that manager Andre Breitenreiter reflected back on the game his disappointment shone through in his comments.

โ€œWe have to stay in the league, but itโ€™s a hard fight,โ€ he said. โ€œWe need the people around the team, we need one group on the pitch, and when itโ€™s not like this, youโ€™ll never have a chance to stay in the league.

โ€œTeams will go down when theyโ€™re not together. This is the truth in every country.

โ€œSo we have to stay together and yes thereโ€™s frustration โ€“ thatโ€™s totally clear today โ€“ but itโ€™s done from Monday and then we have to prepare and to think positive. Itโ€™s hard maybe to say, but we have to believe that itโ€™s possible.

โ€œWe have to come to the stadium next week and to give everything for the three points, because then weโ€™d be one point above Birmingham.

โ€œWe didnโ€™t start the game good and we knew about the quality and ball possession of Swansea, their identity.

“But the distances from the defenders to the strikers were not very good โ€“ it was a bit too big.

โ€œWe didnโ€™t press as a team, individual players didnโ€™t execute the plan weโ€™d discussed before.

โ€œWe werenโ€™t near to 100 per cent as a group โ€“ we have to speak honest about this โ€“ and it wasnโ€™t good enough.โ€
