Transfer latest: Swans are monitoring the situation on Millwall striker?

Every transfer window throws out some surprises and some knock on effects when certain targets are missed out on and they move elsewhere.ย  ย And that could be the situation this summer with Macaulay Langstaff looking like he will make a move to the Champioship with Millwall, a move that opens the door for Tom Bradshaw to depart the Den.

Bradshaw, a Welsh international, has been attracting interest from clubs in the Championship and the names of both Swansea City and Cardiff City it has been suggested are watching the situation closely with both in the market to strengthen their attacking options this window.

Bradshaw was a member of Chris Coleman’s preliminary squad for the Euro 2016 competition but he had to withdraw through injury and has just eight Welsh caps to his name.ย  ย  He will be 32 by the time the new season starts which goes slightly against the grain of the Swans transfer philosophy but with 42 league goals in 116 starts for Millwall and an overall career record better than a goal every three games then he certainly has a record that could well be of interest to the Swans.

At the end of last season Bradshaw talked about how he wanted to end his career with Millwall when he told the South London press โ€œIโ€™d love to finish off my career here,

โ€œI donโ€™t know how long my Millwall career will last โ€“ Iโ€™m here next season and still feeling really good.ย  Iโ€™ve made it clear ever since I signed that I love it here. Iโ€™ve got a really good connection with the fans and my family are from the area.”

However, the Lions recent move for Langstaff has placed into doubt whether Bradshaw could be kept on for next season and whilst his desire was to stay in South London that may change given first team opportunities will becoming more limited should they complete the deal for Langstaff.

Millwall have already received some contact from clubs regards Bradshaw and whilst the Swans are not one of them more than one source is suggesting that we are monitoring the position closely as we look to fill the gaps in the squad that will be felt with Jerry Yates seemingly on his way to Derby and Jamal Lowe looking set to join Sheffield Wednesday.

With twelve months to run on his contract, any move for Bradshaw would need to be accompanied by a transfer fee, another factor in the Lions thinking as to whether they move him on or risk losing him for nothing next summer.

One to watch this for certain, a move for the striker should not be ruled out completely at this stage.

Jamal Lowe on his way to Sheffield Wednesday, apparently. Can't say I'm disappointed with that.

I'd be disappointed with that if we don't get someone better in, which is always a possibility with us. He wasn't exceptional, far from it, but he changed the course of a few games in our favour, usually when he came on as a sub and that's what subs are supposed to do.

Another short Championship journeyman striker... think Watson needs to change his filters...

Far too inconsistent and a very expensive splinter collector.

Except that there's a strong probability that whoever we sign instead will be worse.

There's also a strong possibility we might sign someone better on a fraction of the wage with a resale value.

Been watching the Swans since the very late 1970s and running the Planet Swans website (in all its current and previous guises since the summer of 2001 As it stood JackArmy.net was right at the forefront of some of the activity against Tony Petty back in 2001, breaking many of the stories of the day as fans stood against the actions where the local media failed. Was involved with the Swans Supporters Trust from 2005, for the large part as Chairman before standing down in the summer of 2020.
