It was a carnival atmosphere at the Sports Cafe Piccadilly last night. A good contingent of Swansea lads from all 4 corners of the sprawling mess known as London, converged on the bar for the night’s big ball game. Funnily enough despite there being 2 million tv screens, the management thought Leeds Newcastle were bigger than Swansea, yeah right!
We were given the bear pit stuck at the back, we were not complaining, all huddled together in front of a big screen.
We were joined by one of the ‘injured’ Swansea staff, can you spot him?
With no volume for the Swans game, only for the Leeds game, we had to make do with our own chantings, some great renditions of Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau. Calon Lan as well as the usual repertoire of Swansea material. Best chant of the night at the Leeds/Newcastle fans in the bar was ‘Do you sing in the Premiership, no! no!’ immense stuff.
Great to see so many exiled Jacks together, it has been said before and will be said again no doubt, but there are real efforts to set up a London Swans club. Certainly the numbers seem to have swelled from some years ago.
