Was That The Corner Turn?

I can remember some very bad results at Hull over the years, not least the one that probably cost Jan Molby his job back in 1997 when we lost 7-4 there but is it too early to say that the appointment of Flynn and Reeves is making a difference or would this have been one of the games in which we would have taken a point anyway?

Nobody new has arrived at the Vetch in the last ten days since Flynn was appointed but that comes as no real surprise as most new managers will want time to assess their squad. I am a little surprised, and confused, by comments made by Molby over the weekend where he declared (to our old ‘friend’ Tony Rees) “I was amazed when all those new players arrived at Swansea – particularly when everyone thought the club was in dire financial difficulties. Now it looks as if Brian Flynn has come in and gone back to the tried and tested in a bid to pull things round.” Presumably that is a go at the players that Cusack bought in over the summer although it was of course James Thomas who scored the equaliser on Saturday. Thomas is without a doubt a key factor in Swansea’s season ahead although I think it is unfair to completely tar all the new signings with the ‘rubbish’ tag at this stage of the season. Some of the ‘tried and tested’ have let us down in recent weeks and much sock pulling needs to be done.

It’s the time for Swansea to go very back to basics. Let’s look at it harshly we are not going to play pretty football week in week out to get ourselves out of this mess, we need to be in there at the heat of the battle and want to win which is something that we have lacked at times over the past few seasons. It’s the time for passion in the shirt that we are playing under and a belief amongst the whole squad that we can do it. Rochdale will prove a tougher test for us on Saturday and one that we are more than capable of passing if we play to our full ability. The thing that all the squad must remember is that there could always be someone waiting in the wings to take their place and once that message hits home then performances should improve.

Worrying news ahead of Saturday is a potential injury to David Theobald which could further deplete the defensive line up against a side that has scored almost two goals a game in the league this season.

On the message boards at the moment, talk is more about the pay-per-view section of the official site and the pros and cons of the ‘re-structuring’ of the deal between the league and FLPTV. Whatever the viewpoints you personally have on this, it is certainly an interesting debate to follow with both sides having an increasingly interesting point of view. Follow this one as the week goes on.

Dave’s Raves tomorrow on this site will bring you something slightly different to have a think of and full marks to Dave Hannan for an excellent idea that he will take onwards and upwards in the coming weeks.

Never a dull moment as a Swans fan eh? ๐Ÿ˜‰ Here’s to three points (hopefully) come Saturday and that corner can start to be pout behind us as we move out of that dreaded dotted line at the end of the Third division table! Jack Army!
