Swans make bid for Wycombe defender?

Swansea City are being reported as having made a bid for Wycombe defender Joe Low who of course has two Welsh caps to his name.

The report – coming from Pete O’Rourke who tweeted on Sunday evening that the Swans have made a bid for the player who has scored four goals for the Chairboys this season as they compete at the top end of the League One table and are serious promotion candidates.

Cardiff-born Joe is the son of former Northampton and Cheltenham midfielder Josh Low.  At 6’5″ he would certainly add height to the Swans defence and had loan spells at Dorchester, Frome, Yate and Eastleigh before making his debut for Bristol City in November 2022 and a move to Wycombe followed soon after in January 2023.

Last February he was the interest of a rumoured “substantial” bid from Blackpool – reported as well by O’Rourke.   Any move for Low could mean that the Swans are looking for a longer term replacement for Harry Darling with whom they are yet to reach contract agreement although speculation is this could change in the coming week or so.   Whether Low would come to SA1 to compete against Darling and international team mate Ben Cabango remains to be seen.

Time will of course, as it always does, tell.

Been watching the Swans since the very late 1970s and running the Planet Swans website (in all its current and previous guises since the summer of 2001 As it stood JackArmy.net was right at the forefront of some of the activity against Tony Petty back in 2001, breaking many of the stories of the day as fans stood against the actions where the local media failed. Was involved with the Swans Supporters Trust from 2005, for the large part as Chairman before standing down in the summer of 2020.
