It was refreshing to hear Flynn on the Radio on Saturday afternoon as I drove back home saying that the target was around 50 points and nothing has changed. Sure, it feels great to be 19th in the table and looking down but it is still only 3 points and all the odds say that we won’t get anything on Saturday (if we do it will be a huge bonus) |
Tomorrow we see Boston entertain Wrexham and Bristol Rovers travel to Rochdale. Both games are winnable for the strugglers before the weekend fixtures kick in with these games which immediately effect us |
Boston v Kidderminster |
Bournemouth v Exeter |
Bristol Rovers v Macclesfield |
Hartlepool v Swansea |
Leyton Orient v Shrewsbury |
Rochdale v Carlisle |
Naturally we see the huge six pointer in there at Bristol but everyone else has a game where you would consider they are more than capable of getting a point (possibly with the exception of Exeter) We can get a point at the weekend but we have to accept that we quite probably won’t despite our recent form. |
We cannot lose sight of the fact that we still need (in my opinion) 15 points to guarantee safety – the bonus here is that we can get them all at the Vetch. Five wins from seven home games is easily achievable. What galls me at the moment is that I head off on holiday on 17 April for two and a bit weeks (returning the day before the last game of the season) and I want us to be safe before I go (please Mr Flynn?) |
I will certainly agree with most people that our safety is now more than in our own hands and we do not have to reply on others any more. Brian Flynn and his team have done an incredible job in the last few weeks – we can’t le it go to waste now. |
By all means enjoy the feeling that we have at the moment but never be suckered in into believing that we are already safe. I think we will be but until the points total ticks past 46 points, let’s not crack open the champagne just yet? |
