Cutler’s The Man

Cutler arrives at the Vetch on an initial one-month loan period although Flynn is hopeful that he can make this last until the end of the season. Cutler was an integral part of Stoke’s promotion winning side last season which of course included a play-off victory over Cardiff City and he has been a regular this season at the Britannia Stadium

However, the arrival in the Potteries of Bolton goalkeeper Steve Banks pushed him one place down the pecking order and Cutler requested a loan move as he believes he needs first team football.

He certainly arrives at the Swans with a pedigree as a decent goalkeeper and that will be needed as he is pitched straight into a Welsh derby tomorrow and a relegation six-pointer on Tuesday night at the Vetch.

There has been much criticism of Flynn this week for his choice not to have a back up ready for Roger and certainly no keeper on the bench but that seems unlikely to change with Ryan Harrison the only other shot stopper at the club. To me it’s a calculated gamble and certainly we can safely say that the gamble has not cost us any points this season so far.

All Swansea fans should be urged to give Cutler a warm Vetch Field welcome tomorrow for his debut – his hands will play a very big part in whether this club will still be in the football league next season.
