My word. This decision in retrospect just gets worse and worse.

All the “project fear” stuff just looks more in hindsight like everything was completely underestimated.

The “intellectual” wing of the Brexit vote was about a global, “sovereign” Britain. A free trading nostalgic shift towards the commonwealth.

How is this working out for us in a world that is shifting on its axis?

The decision to leave would have been celebrated widely in Moscow and the vote for Trump. All the other Far right parties and agitators again cheered on from the east.

What a decision we made. Crippled our economy, lost us sovereignty to American Corporate interests, rapidly increased non EU immigration. Increased taxes through lost trade and productivity.

But more fundamentally the foundation of the European project was peace we are part of the splintering and mission creep of the Russians through European disunity.

We didn’t win any sovereignty we’ve outsourced this completely. We have no agency we are weak and I just can’t see a way out of this nightmare.

And bizarrely the wreckage looks as though it could result in a right wing government in a few years time that will take us further down the path of destruction.

The Labour Party are doing a shyte job of pinning the blame fairly and squarely where it lies - with the nicotine stained, frog faced, pound shop Hitler.
Not that his supporters have the intellectual wherewithall to grasp what damage it has done, and is doing, to the country. Thick as mince, most of them.

We need our government to be concentrating on policy improvement and writing the wrongs of the previous decade, not wasting valuable time deflecting blame on Farage and his gang. Some of the stuff served up in PMQ’s is an embarrassing stain on our political scene.

The Political scene in this Country as been abject for 16 yrs or more.

Nothing will change unless Labour finds an identity and strong and original programme. Not only copying the empty rhetoric and simple solutions of the Right. Here’s my go:
Extra NHS funding but sort out the administrative inefficiencies.
Taxes on Operational Profits for Amazon Costa Coffee and Co.
Higher VAT on online sales.
Reduce Business Rates
Increase Defence expenditure - don’t waste all the money on the Navy though.
Reduce NI contributions for employers.
Double lock for Pensions
Align with EU on all commercial standards.
Agree to free mobility within EU.
Ensure 30% fan ownership of all professional football clubs.
Replacement of WRU with a competent authority.
🍻

This is all just too hopeless. They were warned, they did it anyway and they still won’t own it. This was not about the UK in Europe, this is global.

Agreed. They were warned, they’ve had overwhelming evidence ever since. But no who’s the guy for them Farage?!! The guy who smashed it up. But as you say it’s a global phenomenon, with people in the shadows pulling the strings and the idiots walking off the cliff like lemmings.

I don’t see how we get out of the mess now because of the endemic lying that is rampant online that so many fall for. Then you also have the right wing tabloids pumping out lies to scare the old.

It’s astonishing what people will justify in their own heads as true these days. Previously sensible people are now even defending noncery on Twitter where the AI tool has been creating sexualised images of children because in their own heads any move to regulate that is just Starmer being a commie or something. Defending that just to stick it to the lefties. Twisted.

Nothing will change until Wales gains independence.

We will always be the beggars to Westminster until we learn to stand on our own two feet.

Changing the subject slightly did you see the Paddy Kenny AI photo on X yesterday?
He posted a photo of him and his late dad as it was the anniversary of his dad’s passing and someone altered it.
I sat there staring at it for 20 seconds and all I had in my head was why,why the fuck would you do that?
