Steve Tandy - The Next Wales Rugby Coach??

Why not, we’re already a laughing stock. Let’s do something even more stupid. Downturn Abi has scoured the world for the best, and landed on the failed Ospreys coach.

I wouldn't say he failed at the Ospreys but agree there are better candidates out there.

I'd go for Jon Mitchelll.
You could put the best coach in the world in charge of the Welsh team, but he'd be working with his/hers hands tied behind their backs.
Don't underestimate Steve Tandy, he's been in New Zealand and South Africa working with some of the best coaches in the world, the Scottish hierarchy rate him highly.

Would you go for Mitchell or Tandy?

Doesn't matter who the WRU go for, nothing will change until they change and wake up to the fact the game has long been professional they still run the game like it's still a amateur sport, the player pool needs development they need to widen the scouting searches and exploit the residency rules like the other 6 nations teams do, they need to put more money back into grassroots, you look at the size and physicality of the players in Wales's Six Nations squad compared to other squads. Mitchell has the track record that Tandy doesn't have, so it's obvious who the better candidate is, Tandy hasn't been Head Coach of an International team, he's done well at Scotland and is very well thought of, But Mitchell is the obvious choice of the two, or why not the two, with Tandy as Defence coach and Mitchell head coach, does he want the job though,???

This ridiculous 25 cap rule needs kicking into the touch as well, our player pool is small as it is.

Some good points, but the 25 cap rule is a double edged sword. It is there to prevent players who want to play for Wales leaving the Regional game because if our best young players are hoovered up by the French and English, then our domestic game will be even weaker and will wither on the vine.
The plus point though would be that the players playing abroad would be better, fitter etc and would boost the national team, but once the Regions die that would be it.
