Phil Lynott

Phil Lynott died from heart failure on January 4, 1986, at age 36, following complications from a severe drink and drug binge that led to organ failure, specifically septicaemia (blood poisoning) from a kidney and liver infection. The Thin Lizzy frontman collapsed on Christmas Day 1985 and never recovered, passing away in intensive care at a hospital in Salisbury, UK.

So he brought about his own demise. I didn't really know too much about it, but I had some vague idea he'd died from some freak heart condition, that's certainly the impression I got from the media.
It's a shame he chose to throw away his life, his talent and cause great grief for those who loved him, in that way.
