Despite the result that was a thoroughly fascinating five hours or so of cricket and once again it is proven that the five day format is the best form of the game. The neutral viewer would have claimed that there wasn't much going on whilst Woakes and Butler plodded through thirty odd overs, however the reality was most different. Once again we see England capable of winning a session, their problem is that they can't win two or three on the bounce with regular frequency. Onto the MCG where changes are surely afoot.

Fair dos to the English, fought until the end although I don't think Smith would make the same mistake again in regard to not enforcing the follow on.

Onto the next, hoping Hazelwood and Cummins will come back in to sharpen the attack up.

A valiant effort, especially from big Jos and Woakesy. Being two down will just make the inevitable 3-2 series win that much sweeter. Roll on Boxing Day.

By which time it will be 4,006 days since the last win on Aussie soil. Three in three weeks should be easy

Well I’m on day two of 10 in isolation so by the time of the Sydney test I could be predicting a glorious comeback from Fred Trueman.
