Due to make a statement on Friday, any predictions?

I've (thankfully) gone through the pandemic almost having no close family/friends catch COVID...and in the last week, I've had it, my parents have had it, my sister and brother-in-law have had it (we haven't been in contact with each other), 3 of my friends have had it...

Will Drakers push the panic button?

Depends what's happening with the NHS. There's no stopping the disease. Other than by vaccination, so maybe another round of bertie booster for a section of the population?

It’s definitely on the increase and a number of hospitals in South West Wales have had to increase the number of Covid wards.

As the UK government have cut funding for testing resulting in a number of testing centres closing, I anticipate that Covid will increase further as people won’t test or in some cases can’t afford to test. Drakeford can tinker at the edges with masks etc, but seeing the bulk of the money has been cut he doesn’t have a great deal of room to manoeuvre. He can mandate we keep masks, but an increasing number of people are ignoring the requirement do he’s wasting his breath. I think he’ll talk about getting the older folk vaccinated, stress the need for hygiene hand cleansing etc and that will be it for now. Bound be totally wrong though, it won’t be the first time.

If positive cases in the company i work for are reflective of the general population, then it is absolutely flying out there again. More cases in the last couple of weeks since around xmas time.

I tested positive on Sunday after starting to feel groggy on Saturday. Most of the usual symptoms but with the added feeling of blurred vision. Other than that it basically feels like a really severe cold and in pre Covid times I would have gone to work. I’ll be let out of house arrest on Saturday.

Dreading my youngest catching it, we got no home carers calling for now at least, but he goes to Day centre 5 days a week, Mrs works two days a week at a disability school, but is masked up etc, I'm between jobs at the moment so I'm not out mixing and we don't go anywhere apart from shopping, plus I had it over Christmas and stuck it out in the bedroom for 10 days and I never want to go through that again, even though I wasn't really unwell.

Anyone you know had it twice?

One of my kids has had it twice (both confirmed by PCR) but I genuinely believe they’ve actually had it 3 times. The first time was about 10 days in to the first lockdown and not long after we’d returned from a holiday in the Med where we shared a hotel with loads of Italians. We couldn’t get PCR tests as we only had 2 of the 3 main symptoms, even though we had other symptoms including loss of taste which is now one of the classic symptoms. Junior also had blood oxygen Sat’s of 91/92 which ain’t great for a youngster.

Both other occasions were confirmed by PCR, again not all the classic symptoms were present.

Here’s your answer. Sensible enough until this current wave passes but no doubt it will lead to “libertarians” and self hating Welsh people to spout their usual “bloody dripford” cliche till they’re even more pink in the face than Peppa.

In the last fortnight to 3 weeks there are people I know who are testing positive for the first time ever since pandemic began.
I'm hearing hospitals are very busy again.

I don't think we'll see masks being binned yet.

I had it for the first time two weeks ago. Started off with sore throat, then runny nose, high temperature, then shivery to the bone in bed even with clothes on trying to warm up. It then went back in reverse and within a week was better again. My wife got it also with the same symptoms starting a few days after mine.

She’s still got a bit of cough but tested negative two days in a row.

For the first time ever last weekend I saw someone refused entry to somewhere cos she wasn’t wearing a mask. Chinese takeaway in Manselton. He made her wait outside until her grub was ready and then took it out to her.

Well I wouldn’t know anything about that.
