So double vaccinated UK residents will not have to quarantine on returning from a country on the amber list (eg. Germany where the incidence rate is 20 times lower than that of the UK's ) but this doesn't apply to UK nationals who have been vaccinated in an EU country yet. What a pathetic load of jingoistic, xenophobic crap ! #littlebritain.

Does not apply in Wales so far.

I don’t think it would make a difference, it would be where you cam3 from which would make a difference. I can’t see the WG straying too far from Westminster guidance in this, it would outrage the public and be almost unenforceable.

You have to fill in a passenger locator form which states where you will be staying/residing when you leave the airport. If the address is in Wales you are subject to Drakeford rules and expensive and inefficient testing. Drakeford has deemed that the test has to be booked whilst you are away through a private company and the serial number of that test has to go on the form. That test then has to be registered on the NHS/gov website and it’s all done through post when you return. People returning to Wales face a minimum of 10 days (11 given that day one is a day after return) quarantine in their own home on return from amber list countries. With the speed of issuing test results quarantine is more realistically 15 days from landing. People in England have never been subject to this testing regime - they can book a test through ExpressTest like the one at Cardiff City stadium and sail on through.

Drakeford not making it easy for us compared to England.

Drakeford didn’t want any amber list, he wanted everywhere to be red, at even more inconvenience, stress and expense to the traveller. He’s trying to make travelling prohibitive but neglects to take in to account that some of us have to travel for work. It’s also due partly to his hatred of the Bojo government but he’s punishing Welsh people as a result. I don’t disagree entirely with his politics but this is not a political issue. He’s just another despot.

Why are so many countries in the EU on an amber list when the rate of infections are so much lower than in the UK? Why are UK vaccination certificates accepted in Germany to exempt someone from quarantine but not the other way around? If the situation were reversed the gutter press would be blaming it all on Merkel and a Frankenstein project.

I shall be putting it all to the test next week. First time out of UK this year and couldn’t put it off any longer.

Also likely to be travelling the week after and if boyo doesn’t align with BoJo then I’ll be putting an English address down on the locator form (or maybe the forms will be scrapped for amber list countries).

I can get off a plane and go to work in Europe, providing all the Brexit bureaucracy has been satisfied. Likewise someone coming from Europe to perform a job here can do the same, but because it is my country of residence I have to quarantine. It really is as mad as it sounds.

I’m actually leaving the country on Monday, 13 days after I arrived back here, which is completely allowed. I can get on a plane and fuck off, but I can’t go down the shop or leave my house!

Get all your Brexit paperwork ready too, everything needs to be printed including visas and fit to fly tests and if you’re transiting in Europe through somewhere like Amsterdam be prepared to have to clear immigration there too. It’s time consuming, they even question the stamps in your passport like they used to do 20 years ago. I had 45 mins to make a connection the other day and only just made it, with assisted queue jumping, due to Brexit.
