Four years ago last night we took our five year old grandson Barclay to Cardiff to see the mighty Cheap Trick.
When we got home I gave my daughter in law Becky a letter and said “Barclay should give this letter to his teacher tomorrow morning.”
The following evening Becky came to our house and said “I’ve got a letter for you Dar.”
I genuinely had no idea what she was talking about, then I opened the envelope and proceeded to read.

Mr Richards,I salute you. 🤘🏻

As soon as he was close to the band members his eyes changed to a very strange colour. 👀 😉

Class D.
Zoom in on his right hand in the photo with Tom Petersson and he’s got a handful of Rick Nielsen guitar picks.

Yes, I can see those. Cool!

As the response to your letter is from a headteacher, I have to say that I'm disappointed that he didn't draw attention to the absence of apostrophes in "Barclays" and "Zanders" in your letter. This is not what I would expect from someone in a position of such responsibility in the education system.

Has Barclay been to any gigs since? Now he's 9, has that night had any influence on his musical development?

Just wondering, because my Mrs & I took both our kids to see Runrig in Liverpool Empire in 2003 when our daughter was 9 and our son 5. We hadn't planned to but we couldn't guarantee getting a baby sitter so we bought 2 more tickets and took them with us. My son was blown away by the whole 'gig' experience and asked if he could go to some more gigs so after we moved, I took him to see Mostly Autumn in Bridgwater in 2005 and Exeter in 2006 and then Within Temptation in both Bristol and Wolverhampton on the same tour in 2007 and the last two definitely sparked his interest in Metal. Now he's 25, he's got his own recording studio and his own band in which he's drummer and co-writer plus a few other side projects. Just goes to show what can happen if you plant the seed early and keep watering it!

That’s fabulous.
No he hasn’t he was supposed to see CT a few weeks ago in Bristol but it got cancelled.

Amazing!

I was 12 for my first concert experience Alice Cooper and Twisted Sister at the CIA, gigaholic ever since.

Now I’m debating taking my 8 year old to experience one.
