Probably one for ECB, but isn't this the sort of thing he shouldn't be getting involved in?

He shouldn’t be saying anything in anything even vaguely party political. But that ship sailed years ago under Bercow.

I do find it rather funny that he picks and chooses when he conforms with convention. Or is that me just being a cynical, grumpy tit?

But let’s be honest, Bercow threw pretty much every convention out of the window amd redefined the job. Hoyle’s been mostly far more traditional.

He's changed since he's had promotion up to the 2nd floor :D

Starmer has started a similar process at Blair did on the House of Lords. Last time it went nowhere because if a lack of consensus. I don't see much different with this Starmer consultation.

You may well be right, but the way things are shaping up and the likes of Mone on the house and the son of the Russian KGB agent I think the public is starting to question what is really happening. My preference would be for an elected second chamber ( proportional representation) with a small number of reserved seats for others who can make valuable contributions. For example representatives of the Armed Forces, the church, a few charities, prominent business person and the TUC.

Mr Hoyle is perfectly entitled to his opinion, and as far as I'm concerned, he can stick it up his arse.

Nice bloke though apparently.
