Andrea Jenkyns as a Mayor

Reform winning Runcorn. Got to say, they have a great communications team, as PIP and Winter Fuel was apparently the main subject on the doorstep. How they've convinced voters to vote for them (given they've openly said they want to decimate the state) is a testament to that Comms team.

And Labour, do better

To coin a strapline from I can’t remember who… 👀👀

Turkeys voting for Christmas.

That’s bollocks it’s immigration. Let’s cut the crap there’s a lot of racist working class people who have an outlet now.

When I say and “outlet” they *think* they have an outlet is more appropriate. Farage wouldn’t p1ss on them if they were on fire. Never learn though keep swallowing the tabloid othering nonsense.

I'm sure all of these bright minds turning in droves to Reform have done their homework and are fully informed about a party of individuals who want to decimate public services then flog off them off to private enterprise, privatise the NHS, remove statutory sick pay, remove legal entitlements to stuff like minimum wage, annual leave, paid holidays, etc etc.

And, as such, will not complain if their beloved Nige and co ever manage to get their hands on the wheel at a national level and actually make those things become a reality.

I'm glad that these are elections in England, not here.
Hopefully the Welsh electorate will discover what filth Reform is before our Senedd elections next year.

No chance, unless something extremely dramatic happens, Reform will win a shitload of seats IMO.

I have no problem with people being unhappy with the two main parties and voting for someone else, but what you've posted here is the kind of thing you would hope they'd be aware of before choosing Reform. The other parties should be shouting this stuff from the rooftops.

Unfortunately the States have shown us that there is an ever-growing proportion of people who are susceptible to those who tell them 'all your problems are someone else's fault and we'll fix that for you', no matter how palpably untrue that statement is (and how history has shown that those who say it don't give two shits about the people they're appealing to). A large proportion of those who vote for them would suffer the most, but the rest of us would suffer alongside them unfortunately.

It really is the “you’d be a brain surgeon if it wasn’t for that brown chap” thinking.

Bless them. Tired of being nice about this stuff.

Trumps America has really made me get angry about all of this.

As many allude to it’s the more deprived and in need of State help that are turning to a party that would let it rip. It’s incredible.

Many of us who are trying our best to warn of the impending doom will be fine if a more right ring let it rip leadership took over but the very people who are voting for it will wither on the vine. It’s puzzling and depressing.

As many on here know I’m no lefty. I do completely respect however there are people in society who need state support and it saddens me how they are being manipulated by bad actors.

Sad times.

On a more practical level, now that Reform have control of a few councils and mayoralties they’ll have to actually run stuff, provide public services, allocate budgets, make difficult choices and then stand by them. Y’know, actually govern. Protest votes are great in theory until they have real world consequences.

One thing that sticks out for me is that no one is taking farage on.

It reminds me of Cameron before Brexit.

It’s crying out for someone to face him down and ask the right questions. Starmer should be saying okay Mr Farage what would you do on X. Call out the media for being timid and just constantly dancing to his tune.

If Starmer can’t do it then he needs to be replaced.

The tories are a shambles. It needs a moderate centre right voice to speak up too. That may require a breakaway party

My worry is that the numpties that vote for them will not hold them accountable. The impact of their vote would need to be unbelievably severe to make them wake up, and while they deserve every bit of hardship that will come their way, plenty of innocents will be hurt as a consequence.

Well, quite.

I mean, if you are thick enough to vote for them to begin with, then you are definitely going to fall for it when they start blaming whatever boogiemen they invent when things start to go wrong (and they will) on their watch.

Well we’ve seen this evidence of this.

They continue to enjoy punching themselves in the face.

That’s why I go back to my original point. Give them the opportunity to be racist again and they’ll love you for it.

The only solution I can come up with is authenticity.

Stand up for what you believe in. Look at Carney in Canada that’s leadership.

By bottling the Brexit debate they’ve allowed the arsonists to get away with the debacle.
