• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Anyone watched this on Eurosport 2?

Frames are played on a 10 minute countdown clock.
The winner is the player with most points after 10 minutes
Players are drawn against each other and they play only 1 frame to go through to the next round
1st 5 minutes, players have 15 seconds to play a shot
2nd 5 minutes, have 10 seconds to play a shot
Each shot, a ball must hit a cushion
Crowd on the beers, shouting stuff out and singing songs, so quite a different atmosphere to a normal snooker game. (E.g. Shouting “boring” when someone plays a safety :D )

You get situations where there’s 1 minute left and someone is running around the table trying to score 40+ points.

Watched it a few times this week. Found it quite addictive

There have been four Welsh winners, current holder is Ryan Day.
I’ve enjoyed it over the years, not taken too seriously, until ranking points were awarded.

I have watched it, and indeed saw the Georgiou match yesterday, but what with the hooting crowds I cannot but feel it is a bit of an abomination of a format. The fact there are ranking points available is just incredible.

Together with much shorter matches (best of 7 for chrissakes!) it is an example of how Hearn, father and son, are trying to 'modernise' the game, often much to its detriment.

On the opposite tack however, it is undeniable that the Hearns have revolutionised the game in terms of prize money and the gradual incorporation of the Chinese into the game, notwithstanding recent top players arguing that prize money could be better distributed to include the lower ranked players more.

I agree it’s bizarre that ranking points are awarded.
Enjoyable watch though

Mark Williams through to final, which I think is on straight after the next semi

Edit. Time for the final…..
