Had a lieu day so decided to take a spin around Gower .
I'm like a stuck record but what a paradise it really is.
I've never seen the Worm's Head so busy.

The overflow car parks were packed.
The hotel beer garden and outdoor areas of the other cafés were bustling .

I walked to "the Vile" to see the sunflowers.
You can pick your own sunflower @£1.50 each

Many there having a wander and a selfie taken under an arch that's been assembled with the "Worm" in the background.
The beach looked packed too.
I was half thinking of nipping down the Three Cliff's coffee shop to see how things are down there.
A quick Google search suggests they have diversified well.
Will pre order one of their pizzas to colkect on the weekend I think when " her indoors "is with me.

For rest and recuperation I can't think of anywhere finer and it's right on our doorstep!

Port Eynon is my next port of call when I get my next lieu day, is the pub and chippy open for takeaway food?

Gower should be developed more for tourism

Planning should be easier

I don't agree with you there I'm afraid. There's plenty of other developed places. Gower is magical as it is; absolutely no need to change it imo

It's unique and such a morale boosting place to visit.
I mentioned Port Eynon, anyone know if you can rent any of the static caravans there?
Many, many years ago I had a whirlwind romance with a lass whose parents owned one.

Was in Aberystwyth today, and it was very busy everywhere and enjoyed it immensely.

Not much social distancing in certain parts mind.

They were even letting punters into the amusement arcade on the pier.

I don't think 2 or 3 new hotels and a few more car parks would spoil anything

Out of choice,no way I d stay in UK and only because of weather which negates beautiful beaches at a troke.
No fun in grey, gloomy overcast skies with fed up kids in top trying to keep warm.

If we had the weather let's face it,we'd never go abroad .

But we don't

As scenic as the Gower is, it can't compete with the Costas or many places along the med

True.
Naturally Gower is lovely but the beaches ,apart from Rhossili ,are nowhere near as beautiful as western Algarve, south west Portugal or most Greek islands.Naturally, you can't have a meal and /or a drink after spending a glorious day in warm sea water. Our beaches aren't cleaned daily either and ,like it or not,we dump our shite all over the beach for someone else to pick up.A British disease.
It also the case the tidal range means its only really practicable to swim when tide is in as the sea in Bristol Channel goes on miles-literally.

We don't have the weather to have a beach lifestyle.

For sheer beauty try the Hebrides although swimming is for the very hardy.

The sea off the Algarve can be quite fresh even in August. The Greek islands are different though as the sea is lovely , even into late Sept and Oct.I have been in the sea off Majorca in early November and it was lovely

Unfortunately, the Bristol channel can be very uninviting on times, and often quite dangerous.

Ive been in June and its about16 degrees which is cold, but not too cold.In ept,it is glorious.

The sea is very cooling and the Algarve has lovely warm weather to get you warmed up again.

I miss it badly

Swim with great caution on the south west coast, near Bordeira/Carapateira. Big surf, rip currents and massive spray.

Down Langland early, walked over to Caswell for a coffee and a walk along the beach. By about 10am car parks were full. 24- 27 degrees this morning and there's nowhere better in the world, simply stunning. Dont agree with all that Med stuff full of foreigners and the English, pick your food of photos and every bar is the size of my locals shitehouse.
