Roger Going To Cardiff???

Sam Hammam up the road is desperate for a team of Welshmen. We know that there aren’t many (if any) Welsh keepers better than Our No 1 who, deservedly (and don’t I know it!) enters his testimonial year next season.

Reviving an old cliche, Roger Freestone IS Swansea City. He loves the place, the fans and wants to be here next season. Not Cardiff City. Not Manchester United. Not Real Madrid. Swansea City.

But it appears, and this is from more than one source, that our beloved (sic!) management team think differently. A decent offer and Roger may be shown the door.

You and I both know that if he is shown the door, he will have to go. With a wife and two children to look after, you can’t blame him for that. But, knowing Roger as I do, he will have to be dragged kicking and screaming out of the door.

Neil McClure seems hell bent on stripping the best assets out of the club before the inevitable sale. And we are meant to just sit back and let it happen.

The new owners (whoever they will be) will be left with, let’s face it, the people that nobody else wanted. Seriously, I believe that if someone came in for Myra in the club shop and offered cash, McClure would sell her. No hesitation. Makes you sick really?

I don’t see how any supporter of Swansea City can just sit back and let our best players get sold. I appreciate that this is how most club’s in the lower divisions survive but do you think if we get in serious money for players in the summer then Mr McClure will make it available for new blood? I don’t.

Please do not stand back and watch, mutter the odd misgiving, and then think ‘ah well it’ll come good’ because a few years of mis-management have put this club in a poor position, a poor position indeed. We have one of the highest backroom costs in the lower two divisions and higher than some first division football clubs. And are we better of for it?

Does the delightful Mike Lewis deserve his fat pay cheque every month? 9th floor have no more money to splash on this football club as far as I am aware and ‘asset stripping’ is the short-term answer as far as they seem to be concerned. We must question more.

Mike Lewis says he’ll meet the fans. We’ve been there, done that, and I’ve wiped my arse with the T-Shirt. I won’t hold my breath for the invitation because I don’t think it will happen. And if it does, it will be people that Mikey thinks will give him an easy time.

He’s even got Leighton James sticking up for him now. Tonight’s EP states that we should be venting the anger at McClure? Why’s that then, Mike’s in charge of the day to day running of the club. The man that is in charge said once to me and a few other MAGS in Gloucester that he wanted to employ heavies to give a few North Bankers a ‘good slap’ to keep them in line. And he’s in charge?

Swansea fans, stand up and be counted. We need rid of these people and sooner rather than later before they bleed everything out of our once-proud football club.
