Taken For A Ride?

For sure, people are believing he is Spanish. The club’s official site claims that ‘if he isn’t then he is a good actor’ whilst others that have met him tend to say that he is definitely Spanish.
But a trial arranged by Giovanni Savarese that he forgot to tell anyone about? That much does not seem to ring true at all. It now comes to light that the guy played last season in the Neath League for Rhos.
For those that do not know, Rhos is just outside Pontardawe and not somewhere that you would traditionally associate with a breeding ground for the Nationwide League.
You would also tend to make an assumption that if he was any good, the local Welsh club, Pontardawe Town, would have snapped him up to play for them in between a trial at the Vetch?
JackArmy.net spoke to someone at Pontardawe today who had also heard the same story about Rhos and is trying to ascertain just how good this bloke is.
Whichever way you look at it, it suggests that maybe Mr Hollins has been taken for a ride by asking the guy to stay? There is always that chance that he may be the ‘missing link’ in whatever plans he has but history would tend to suggest otherwise.
It now appears that all you have to do to get a trial at the Vetch is to turn up, say that such and such arranged for the trial and can you stay. Such is the desperate search for players.
And one final note and this may be pure guesswork but – the guy’s surname is spelt R-O-J-A-S maybe it is pronounced R-O-G-E-R-S? Just a guess but would you laugh if it turned out he was just a wind up and was really Welsh?
