We can also reveal that the target was believed to be David MacFarlane from Hamilton Accademicals. His 24 goals, which included three hat-tricks were instrumental for the Accies last season and he as voted their player of the year.
Meanwhile, the club have revealed that the Australian full back we are taking on trial is not Lindsay Wilson but David Arranz, who will arrive here over the weekend. John Hollins told the club’s official web-site ” He has a great reputation in Australia, but it’s all well and good listening to other people’s opinions, it’s only when the players arrive over here, and we get to see them first hand that we can judge them. I haver experience of working with Australian players frrom my time at QPR. They are starting to gain a reputation in the worldwide game, and are on the verge of the World Cup. They are similar to British players in style, they tend to have a good attitude, are well coached, and there is no language problem. They are coming a long way, so it shows that they are keen, and who knows? I’m hopeful that we will find the right one for us.”
Whilst any inward players to the Vetch is a good sign, we wonder whether the players that are coming in are really going to help our promotion push when we see the likes of Stuart Roberts heading to Rotherham for training and Steve Jones and Martin Thomas signing for other third division Rivals.
Oh, and we hear that John Williams is injured!
