News From The Vetch

First off a bit of player news – as we probably know by know Sidibe is likely to be out of action for six weeks leaving John Williams as the only current fit striker at the club. However, after the stuff in the News of the World about Spurs and Sibibe a few weeks back, we can reveal that there is a North London club keeping tabs on him but it is Arsenal. What he is valued at is anybody’s guess but scouts from Arsenal are keeping eyes on our man.
On the staff front, we learn that Mike Lewis has put all administration staff at the Vetch on one month’s notice at the club. There is clearly a mole at the club and Mike is desperate/determined to find out who. Sad part is, I hear this from someone outside Swansea City so you need to look elsewhere!!!!!
Paul Compton. Hmm, Paul appears to have landed himself in some deep water from what we are told. By all accounts, Mr Compton has been reported to the FAW for a verbal attack on a female linesman at a recent youth team match. Professor Farmer, one of the board at the club, is not too happy and it may well be possible that Paul may not be with us too much longer. Maybe a door opening for Mr Curtis? Who knows.
We also believe that something is afoot on the new investor front. What, we do not know but Mike Lewis is constantly described by the club as temporary chairman. Our friends in the press have been told by Lewis that nothing is there on the investor front so maybe administration is drawing nearer? Who knows, but something seems to be happening and maybe sooner rather than later?
Compensation for Hollins and Curtis? Naturally one for the lawyers but we hear that both have been offered compensation but not at the full amounts of their remaining contracts. What this eventually costs the club remains to be seen but the money is coming from Lewis’ friend at Reading. The club is due some money from the recent sale of Steve Jenkins by Huddersfield to Birmingham – around ร‚ยฃ30k we believe.
Finally, we get some news from the supporter’s trust that the membership number is growing well. Good to read on the message board that the working party people were out and about before the game yesterday. The more awareness the more members – it’s a natural progression. We are told that they now have over 400 signed up and paid members with more coming in on a daily basis. It’s a long road but things are slowly heading in the right direction. Criticism has been levelled at the promotion of the trust and it is true that they need to be ‘in people’s faces’ especially with the election of the committee due within a couple of months. The voice of the trust needs to be heard.
At this present moment in time, there seems to be plenty going on at the club off the field of play. Some of it should turn out to be good for the future of Swansea City and what we really need now is the end of Mike Lewis and the start of a complete new era for the club. When this happens, we can truly say that the 9th floor chapter is well and truly over and hopefully the club can start moving in the right direction again.
More, as usual, when we get it
