Tony Petty we believe has already been introduced to some members of the staff at the Vetch – including Paul Compton and his youth set-up last night at Jersey Marine.
Speculation has been rife following our story last night about Tony Petty and many people have been researching the man on the net today but most come to the same conclusion – he is not the knight in shining armour that we prayed for.
In fact you could go to say that his record at previous clubs make Mike Lewis look a preferred option but we have to wait and see what his intentions are for the good ship Swansea City.
As part of the deal, Mike Lewis will leave Swansea City, presumably with severance pay (more than he gave Hollins or Curtis) and will probably never think Swansea City again. Martin Burgess we believe will remain at the club short term in some form of advisory format.
The ยฃ801,ooo debt to Ninth Floor that was ring-fenced when Lewis took over disappears. It’s Ninth Floor debt now it seems and they get ZILCH out of the deal. Mr Petty (and we believe one more Australian) takes over with the only debt of Swansea City being that racked up by Lewis in his 12 weeks at the helm (around ยฃ220,000)
It has been no secret (well no secret rumour anyway) that Steve Hamer has been waiting in the wings to try and take over but it seems that the waiting has been too long and we are now left with Mr Petty and his reign at the club. Whether it will be a long term reign remains to be seen.
There is no definite announcement at the club tomorrow but we believe that this is the most likely scenario and this time tomorrow we will be under new owners yet again.
What does the future hold now? We can’t answer that, the track record isn’t good and the one thing that is sure to make the new owners unpopular is the sale of any golden assets – if he starts doing that then he is on a sure fire winner on losing friends before he has made them.
The future was bright according to some, is it so now?
