Swansea manager Colin Addison will tomorrow be locked in crisis talks with Tony Petty over his future as manager of Swansea City. Addison is believed to be upset by Petty’s statement that he was made aware of the ‘sacking’ of the players before it all happened.
Addison will tomorrow sit down with Chairman Tony Petty and Chief Executive John Shuttleworth at 9.30 to discuss the issues as the club heads into more turmoil. Addison has already gone on record over the weekend as saying that the atmosphere at Saturday’s game was something that he had never experienced before. He said on the club’s official web-site ” I’ve known bad games, and I’ve known the crowd being critical, but I’ve never known anything like that. In Spain, the Middle East, where fans are very critical, it’s not been anything like that today. It was a very difficult, and a very strange atmosphere, concentrated on off the field activities.”
He also believes that the situation needs to be sorted out as soon as possible “They are difficult times at the moment, we all acknowledge that, but all I will say, I just hope for the sake of Swansea City Football Club and everybody concerned with it, is thatthe situation is resolved quickly, in the best interests of Swansea City. ”
A change of manager now would be disastrous for Swansea as they sit too closely for my liking to the foot of the football league. Addison had the team playing a higher standard of football when he first arrived and it is the arrival of Petty that has set that back a few levels to what we are seeing at the moment.
It is quite conceivable that these crisis talks could lead to Addison tendering his resignation as manager of the club and I personally believe that this is something that should not be allowed to happen.
Addison is believed to be fuming at the comments made by Petty on live radio on Friday when he said that he (Addison) was aware of the sackings and also that it was a management decision to release Ron Walton and Glan Letheran from the club. Addison was also unaware of the sale of Stuart Roberts until the deal was all but concluded and Stuart told him that he was moving.
It could be these factors that push Addison over the edge and Swansea could find themselves appointing a third manager this season. Let’s hope the need for that does not arise and Addison can carry on looking to move the side up the table.
