Central Defender Matthew Bound appears to be the next player out of the Vetch Exit door after the club gave him permission to talk to Oxford with a view to a permanent move. รยฃ70,000 more money in the pocket of Tony Petty?
The official statement from the club says that Bound, who joined 4 years ago from Stockport, has had talks with Oxford with regard a possible month’s loan with a view to a permanent deal. This needs checking but I had a feeling that you could not loan a player from a club in the same division?
Rumours from Oxford this evening suggest that Bound may have already signed the deal at Oxford although this has yet to be confirmed.
Bound is the highest paid player at the club at present and previous moves from other clubs have broken down because the clubs in question cannot meet his present wages. Whether Oxford are prepared to do so remains to be seen but suggestions again say that Bound is prepared to take a pay cut to leave the Vetch.
A move to Oxford would mean a link up with former Jack, Martin Thomas, a close friend of Matthew’s whilst at Swansea and be another blow for Colin Addison, already reeling with the news that Jason Smith will not play again until the New Year.
Boundy was instrumental in the championship winning side of 2000 but has come in for severe criticism from some quarters over the past season and a half with many fans claiming that he is not the player he was before he was offered a lucrative contract.
รยฃ70,000 coming into the club at the moment is bad news for many fans who were hoping that the money was running out for Tony Petty.
