The fee involved in this move is รยฃ400,000 and Sidibe itis believed will put pen to paper at Leicester within the next seven days. Sidibe has been longed for since he went off injured at Exeter on Boxing Day and it appears that he will have just two games back in a Swansea shirt before the move is completed.
However, the news is not all bad as this will bring badly needed income into the club in the short term and can we really blame anyone for letting him go with less than 6 months to run on his contract. All we can hope and pray for is that the loss of Sidibe, who is by far our most dangerous forward is not at the expense of our football league place come the end of the season.
However, as there always is there is a down side. We believe that Mamady’s agent is entitled to a hefty percentage of the deal and of course little of this money will be available to Colin Addison and Peter Nicholas for team strengthening. There are certain bills that need to be paid, the transfer embargo needing to be lifted is a key factor in this but we hope that some will be available to get in a decent enough replacement for Sidibe, and maybe Tony Bird is someone that is in Addison’s mind for this?
Whatever happens, remember where the news is breaking first and as a club employee told me earlier on when questioned on this story “That is news to me”
And of course, it could easily be argued that this was one of the few decent bits of business that John Hollins provided us with, having snapped up Sidibe on a free transfer last season.
All that remains to be seen is when the deal goes through exactly and, of course, whether Sidibe’s goals will come in time to keep Leicester in the Premiership.
