Home >Story Index> New Board Set To Be Announced

Well, there has been no official announcement yet so we can only fully speculate but we hear whispers from the media in Cardiff that the board of directors will not include the man seen as the leader of the consortium, Mel Nurse. We must remember that Mel is still a creditor of Swansea City and this may prove to be a stumbling block. Mel was of course splashed over the back of last night’s Evening Post with the statement “I want to be chairman” but we understand that this is not going to be the case.
Dave Morgan is of course already on the board. Our understanding is that this will not change and that he will remain a director of the football club that he has supported for so long.
The Supporter’s Trust have a make up of the new club and we expect that the name of Leigh Dineen will be the representative of the trust on the board. Leigh is chairman of the trust and was the representative of the trust when the consortium when they were unveiled at the Vetch last month. Again, Leigh is a Swansea fan and we expect him to sit on the board.
Brian Katzen also seems likely to take a seat on the board alongside Dave and Leigh. Brian is based in America but we understand that he is keen to get involved with the football club and this will involve being a director as well we think.
Martin Brugess is a name that has been banded about as heading back for a boardroom seat but our media contacts tell us that this is unlikely and Martin will be an employee of the football club instead. We are told that he worked tirelessly with the consortium to get the club back off Petty and his job it appears could be to look after the day to day running of the club but with no directorship.
Who else has had their name in the frame? Steve Hamer, Don Goss, the mystery men behing the consortium. All seem unlikely to join the board so we could well be left with a board of just three but we await word from the club as to exactly who is to make up the directors of Swansea City. One thing we do understand though is that the board is likely to be unsalaried – more good news considering the salaries drawn by previous board members.
We are expecting an announcement from the club before the week is out and the new directors will be in place in time for the home game with Southend on Friday evening.
Watch this space as they say……
