We Have A Problem?

For the first time since they ousted Tony Petty from the football club the consortium/committee/board/whatever seem to be coming in for criticism from corners concerned at the way that the events have unfolded. Do we indeed have a problem or are there more events to unfold that will put us at our ease?
John Cornforth’s name was heavily linked with the managerial vacancy at the club and sometimes there is no smoke without fire. This is not just a couple of Swans fans linking this name, this was the bulk of the Swansea following media. The consortium deny contact with John Cornforth but we hear disturbing rumours that one of them has been in touch with Mr Cornforth and indeed even John himself may have believed until this morning that he was going to be the manager at the Vetch. Does this mean that we have people pulling in opposite directions? I severely hope not.
The football club still has no figure head and that seems to be causing us a problem at the moment. We are coming up for two months into the new regime and it seems that we have no-one at the head of the club. Is this causing us a problem? I think it is the statements that are being released are brief, to say the least and is this because no-one is able to take a step forward and make a statement? Again, I hope not.
There is a very strong viewpoint across the internet sites and lists that Addison and Nicholas have been treated unfairly. It’s a tough call, this one and for once I stand on the fence. I can truly see both arguments and maybe my viewpoint on this is clouded by the fact that I am good friends with Roger? I don’t know to be honest but I am surprised at the timing of the announcement but again the club has told us nothing other than financial reasons. Maybe an elaboration on what they mean and we would have a better idea of the situation at the moment.
We are told of hard work behind the scenes since they took over but the only tangible evidence of this so far is in the fact that the lease was yesterday sold back to the council. No sum of money quoted from the club and again a three line statement is all we hear on this front.
Don’t get me wrong here. Nick Cusack and Roger Freestone are great servants of the football club and if they are to be the new management team then I wish them all the very best and they have my support from Day 1 but is it the right decision to have two vital players of the squad managing the team? I severely hope so, for the club and for the two men themselves and whatever the consortium choose with regards the football club then we have to take the assumption that they believe that it is in the best interests of the football club.
Whatever happens this is proving to be a test for the management committee and all the other people that are part of the consortium and for the first time they are open to criticism in some quarters. It’s clear that no matter who is in charge of the football club, like the rest of us, they will not be above criticism and they have to take what is coming for them. As Gary Martin writes in his North Bank Natter there is a perception that not everything that is being told to us is how it stands in black and white.
Of course, some things cannot be said in public and that would be appreciated but a statement that stretches beyond the first few lines would be slightly more interesting to read at this moment in time. Would you keep checking back here for news if I just wrote three or four lines on each article?
I know many of the people involved in this latest twist in our season personally and some of them very well. It makes it hard to criticise on that basis and I am trying not to but questions are starting to be asked of those in charge and it is time very soon for some answers.
A very strange day in this season that has seen more twists then even we are used to and we await the next developments in the line but the natives are starting to get restless.
