The latter sounds scarier than what is actually is. The consortium want to do something called a CVA. This way, the people they owe money to have to accept lower payment amounts, or the club will go into liquidation, so effectively, the creditor’s will get nothing. The smaller payment’s can be a small as 5% of the total amount owed.

Sounds too easy doesn’t it?, my thought’s exactly. For this to happen, I understand that 75% of the creditor’s have to agree on the smaller payments, which they most probably will. But will people like John Hollins, well yes, he’ll have to really, because as Phil Sumbler pointed out a few days ago, if he was seen to be the man to finish off an entire football club, he would be finished. So maybe the word liquidation sounds very alarming, but hopefully, the way things are at the moment, the CVA is a good way forward for the club, as we can get rid of our debts, and start a fresh, although we still desperately need new investors. The case for the CVA hits the court on March 25th.

Anyway, let’s go back to the start of the week, and talk about the footballing side of things.

Last week couldn’t have started off any worse. I stood on the terracing at Gay Meadow and watch our beloved Swans get completely outplayed, and out battled. It was, in a nutshell, embarrassing.

The game ended 3-0 to the Shrews. Defeat would have been easier to take if we’d played with passion and a will to win. However, all these quality’s were missing, and there were a few player’s on that pitch who need to take a long hard look at themselves in the mirror, and ask the question “Did I give a 100% tonight”?, and if more than 4 players answer yes to that question, then someone is lying.

The defeat was harder to take after the annoy announcer came on after the second goal, and shouted as loud as he could “THERE WAS NEVER ANY DOUBT”! Ignorant pig!

The eye catching thing about the night was Mamady Sidibe. Never have I seen a player completely not interested in playing. He wouldn’t run, jump, shoot, pass, etc. A complete lack of effort on his part, and an insult to the fans that travelled up to see the game. In this division, it is better to have 11 triers than players who like to play well now and again. Sidibe has become very inconsistent, and it makes you wonder whether we should cash in on him now before it’s too late.

And so to the real drama of the week. Addison and Nicholas sacked, contracts terminated, call it whatever you like, they are gone. The decision was purely a ‘financial one’ was the excuse. Believe it if you like, but there could be more to that one than first meets the eye. If it’s financial, wouldn’t it be better to get rid of all the garbage that we have sitting in our squad. No wonder the wage bill is so high. There are a good 10 players in our squad who should not be here, and are taking up valuable room on the wage bill. Some have been warming the bench constantly for the last few years. What is the point in having them? A good clearout is needed in the summer, and hopefully, we can get the balance between the squad and the wage bill about right.

When the news first came out that Addison and Nicholas were gone, a lot of us were rubbing our hands with delight, after the rumours previous to this had been that John Cornforth was set to become our new manager. However, the joy was short lived. Despite all the rumours and the evidence, Cornforth was not becoming our new manager, so we were left with no management team at all. The club announced that Nick Cusack and Roger Freestone would take charge of things temporarily.

I don’t want to go into too much detail about the Carlisle game. For yet another time this season, the players played in very difficult circumstances, and despite being 3-0 after 30mins, they did well to get a goal back and end the game as 3-1 losers.

That ended what has been another horrendous week. Being a Swansea fan is never dull. I think when the dust settles, Phil Sumbler and Keith Haynes should write a book about the last year in Swansea City’s history. I’m not sure whether it would sell very well though, because half the things in it people just wouldn’t believe!!!, but sadly, it’s all true.

Question marks are now being raised regarding the consortium. A poll is being run on this site asking what your confidence level is in the consortium. Early indications show that a lot of confidence is being lost. We’ll have to wait and see what the consortium’s next step is.

All in all, I think the best thing we can do as fans, is to get right behind Roger and Nick. It seems as if we say this every week, but the players really do need your support more than ever. I have every confidence in Freestone and Cusack. Whether they are equipped for the job full time, only time will tell, but let them give it a good go. And what better for them to come out onto the field this Saturday to see a packed Vetch Field. Come on; let’s get right behind the lads.
