CVA Goes Through

Home >Story Index> Today Dawns The New Era

Of course the battle is far from won and, as a Nationwide league club, this does not mean that we can spend money like we have done in the past but it is a huge step in the right direction and one that can see this club survive. The foundations that were laid by the consortium when they took over from Petty back in January are now ready to be built on and we await the next stages of news from the Vetch.
The club will now be under the CVA for the next two years. This is how long that they will be taking to make the payments due to the Inland Revenue but the rest of the debts will start being cleared. Who voted against the CVA does not matter at this stage, (Addison and Nicholas and Paul Compton), the main fact is that we got the vote that we needed and we are well on the way to securing an even footing for Swansea City Football Club.
However, we proceed with caution. We must be aware of the implications of non payment of the creditors and we must also be wary of handing out the almost open cheque book contracts of previous regimes. And, of course, the fans must support the club. There has been much criticism, cuminating in a letter in Saturday’s Evening Post about how the football club was a disgrace to the city. It’s not and shouldn’t be – Swansea needs a football club.
Let’s now stop looking back to the past – however dim and murky it was and look to the future. A football club that can go forward on an even footing. Now we see what has really been happening behind the scenes. Are there investors who were waiting for the CVA to happen before they invested, what are the plans for the football club. We await what statement comes out of Swansea City before we get too carried away.
But today dawns the new future in Swansea City and it can only be brighter and better than the too recent past. Can’t it? Remember that saying from the 1980s? “Be Proud To Be A Swan” and do be, because we should be.
