You would think so wouldn’t you but clearly Gregory Dakad, Mama’s agent decided that the contract wasn’t worth the paper that it was written on and so didn’t bother to show the player it. Would I be stepping out of line if I asked whether it was the player’s wage or the player’s cut that wasn’t acceptable?
Lets go back a few months when Petty was ready to sell Mama to Barnsley. The deal fell through because of the agent – greed came into it from his side. And there was naive old me thinking that an agent was there to represent a player and act in the players best interests. Of course, we do not know what was on the contract offer but if it was going to be turned down – was it too much to ask that it was turned down by the player after seeing it?
We don’t know whether Mama will be at the club next season but it should be his decision if he wants to move on and not that of his agent. If I was Mr Sidibe I may be thinking at this time that it may be better to find a different agent rather than using the one who seems intent on his own interests only.
Personally I don’t think that Sidibe will be here next season. Whatever the agent has done this time, I have no doubt that he has probably put some figures into Mama’s head that the club won’t be able to, nor should they, match. But if it is the decision of Sidibe himself then I will accept it and wish him all the best when he moves on.
Of course transfer deadline day came and passed at the Vetch again with no activity. A transfer embargo on incoming transfers didn’t help that and no-one seemed queuing up at the door to take some of our players out so it will be the same squad that entertains high flying Luton at the Vetch on Saturday.
Now then, where did my agent go….
