The Manics At The Vetch

Indeed there were selected members of the Manics inside the box yesterday afternoon to watch the Swans slip to a disappointing 3-1 defeat, a result which sealed the promotion of Luton Town.
Of course with the consortium looking for new investors you would hope that they managed a few words with them with a view to investment but as the Super Furry Animals once said “Sponsoring Cardiff City was a big mistake” But that was slightly different wasn’t it. Putting in a few quid would be completely different to having SFA emblazened over the front of the shirts, or in this case MSP.
There is of course probably a very innocent explanation to all this, and I would imagine that you could say that Mike Watson-Challis, the Hatters chairman is something to do with Sony Records but of course that just takes some of the fun element away from things. But just to show we are always watching, we thought we’d let you know that the Manics were there.
But let’s string this out just a little bit longer and take a look at some of the Manics songs that could just have been written for Swansea City.
Natwest – Barclays – Midland – Lloyds – Tony Petty practices with the BACS system
Slash ‘N’ Burn – Petty and Mike Lewis play football clubs
Another Invented Disease – Cardiff City
Spectators of Suicide – Swansea fans watch Petty try and destroy the club
From Despair to where – From 9th Floor to Mike Lewis to Tony Petty to the consortium to ???
Yes – January 24th 2002
Archives of Pain – Need I really say more looking back over the last 12 months
If you tolerate this your children will be next – Swansea fans look forward to having a club for generations to come
My Little Empire – Mel Nurse and his consortium take charge
Nobody Loved You – Tony Petty leaves the Vetch
Everything Must Go – October 11 2001
I’m Not Working – written especially for Mike Lewis
