But today the embargo was finally lifted as we went through the 28th Day meaning that the CVA has now 100% been agreed and the club can finally, hopefully, look to the future and Nick Cusack can take a longer and harder look at the transfer market.
A look at the Football News board will tell you that players are being released by many clubs and whilst the decision on who stays and who goes at the Vetch will seemingly not take place until after the FAW Premier Cup Final we need to be in a position to make a move on some players before it is too late.
The transfer embargo came into force, as we know, when Tony Petty didn’t play the players on Christmas Eve. Five days later a loan from the PFA was received and an immediate embargo was slapped on the club to stop them dealing in inward transfers. This embargo was lifted shortly before the CVA was applied for. At the time, with new management still to be put into place, the club deemed it appropriate not to enter into the transfer market with enough points on the board already to ensure another season of Football League at the Vetch.
Nick Cusack has his eye on players and we understand that there will soon be movement inwards and outwards of the Vetch. We could see as many as a dozen players leave over the course of the summer and we believe that Nick has a list of players he would like to see in. We believe that the name of Christian Edwards may be on that list but we wait to see who else has been targetted by Cusack.
Meanwhile, tickets for the FAW Premier Final have been selling well at Ninian Park and the club has sold to date nine buses for the trip on May 13 with a tenth coach booked to bring members of the MAGS to the game. I have to admit to being impressed at that figure as I expected only around 500 Jacks to make the trip and with over two weeks until the final itself, the total could rise to nearer 1000.
Cardiff owner, Sam Hamman has offered to pay for the coaches and will be concerned to hear of the number already sold and we wait to see what the final travelling contingent is on the night.
