By Tuesday of this week over 800 tickets had been sold for the game against many predictions, and by Saturday the 1,000 barrier is expected to be broken. And that with well over a week of ticket sales to go. On the face of it this is not a lot, but traditionally Swansea City have taken the larger away support to these games in recent years, the last league game at Ninian saw 2,200 Swans fans make the journey east to Cardiff. Again no big shakes, but when you consider that each coach carrying 46 fans will have it’s own police escort you begin to realise the hugeness of the logistical nightmare that is a Swansea / Cardiff derby game. No matter the prize. For this game travel is free, and a match ticket is only eight pounds, and if you haven’t booked yet for the end of season party Swansea City are urging fans to do so quickly to assist them in ensuring everyone is adequately catered for. The club shop number is 01792 462584. For fans in England and East Wales not wishing to make the journey all the way to Swansea there is a way for them to get to the game too. The Midlands Avon & Gloucester Swans are also running free travel and they too have only a few seats spare for the journey to Cardiff. The traditionally strong Swans supporting area of Gloucestershire and Avon will be offering pick up points in England, as well as the M4 in to Wales. Contact for booking with The MAGS is 07713 083479. The cut off for bookings with The MAGS is this Tuesday night. Some media circles are reporting the fact that the big Swans turn out is due to Cardiff’s failure to get in to the promotion play off final. However Bristol based Swans fan David Hemmings states differently -" You just have to be there really, even if they win it doesn’t matter, it’s a two bob comp based in Cardiff. When you think about it it’s the only way the media could get a Cardiff trophy this season. Make one up for them to win. But after this week’s Stoke win, well, you never know " For some Swans payers it is certain that this may be their last appearance for the club with "manager " Nick Cusack about to wield the axe on many of last seasons squad. But if their is an ounce of pride in any of The Swans squad they will go to Cardiff ready to correct some bad performances of late. But many fans also will not forget the fighting spirit they all showed at Christmas with no wages and the club on the rocks financially. The two bob cup it may be, but the travelling Jack Army will demand 100 % effort on Monday week, for many there is no derby game like it. For the fans of both Swansea and Cardiff it’s an opportunity to at least have something to shout about at the end of a very disappointing season for both clubs. The game is also being screened live on BBC Wales, and on BBC 2 W on SKY digital. But there’s nothing like being there ………..
