Nick Cusack will step away from the club to take a well deserved break after all the activity of the last few weeks but his mind will stay with the club as he looks to bring in new arrivals. Thomas was the 6th player to walk into the club since the FAW Final just 3 weeks ago, following Paul Reid, Matt Murphy, Michael Jackson, Andrew Marsh and Jonathan Keaveny.
And the new arrivals will not stop here, a club insider tells us that Nick Cusack has a real ace up his sleeve and expects to make a signing that will give Swansea supporters even more hope for the new season. And when that signing is made we may even see at least three more players leave the club on free transfers, that is if Swansea can fix them up with new clubs. Speculation turns to the futures of John Williams and Michael Howard with this news now circulating Swansea.
Cusack is determined to sign at least one more defender, and is in discussions with four other players including attacking midfielder Steve Guinan currently at Plymouth Argyle. But he isconfident that the defence can be bolstered too. Cusack has worked tirelessly on team strengthening since ridding the club of eight players three weeks ago, amidst pathetic criticism in the letters pages of the local press, and now he can proudly see his achievements of late. His critics cantake a step back as the new owners back him with a wage structure that he has adhered too, and now everyone at Swansea City is on a one year contract with the exception of the talented Andrew Mumford.
This in itself will inspire those wishing tostrike a new deal next season that much more, and shows that given the opportunity a player with Cusack’s credentials can make the step in to management easily. Anda certain previous manager, not surprisingly unemployed, who spoke tirelessly of his squad being good enough finally has his ghost well and truly exorcised.
The Swans are most certainly worth a pound or two down the bookies, with some away from the areastill offering 28 – 30 / 1 on the side winning the Championship.
