The second leg of the Jackarmy.net v Sleepinggiant.com derby gets underway at 11am at the Civil Service Ground, Sanatorium rd, Cardiff on Sunday. The game promises to be just as eagerly contested as the first leg at the Morfa two weeks ago, when Jackarmy.net hammered our friends from the east 4-1 to lift the Harry Griffiths Memorial Trophy. Sunday’s game will see the teams battle it out for another piece of silverware. This time the trophy has been named in honour of a great servant to both clubs, the late Billy Ayre.

Since the first leg the Jackarmy.net squad have been hit with a string of key injuries and last night I took the opportunity to chat with jackarmy.net coach Steve “Reeco” Rees and asked him if he would be forced to make wholesale changes to the team. “Obviously we are bitterly disappointed to be losing so many key players for the second leg, what with Bomber away on Holidays, A_TRUE_JACK out with a thigh injury and Swanseadevil and Nomad carrying groin and calf strains. That along with the fact that the muscle that I pulled in the first leg hasn’t responded to treatment like I hoped it would will mean that I’ll be forced to shuffle the team around in a bid to make a game of it in the second leg. But, as always, we’re confident of coming away from Cardiff on Sunday with the right result.”

So will the 60 or so Jackarmy.net travelling party have something to celebrate come 1pm on Sunday? With the Cardiff boys expected to field an almost identical team to the first leg, everything points to it being an uphill struggle. One bright spot is the fact that the weather conditions should be hot and sunny once again which will surely suit the Jackarmy lads and their superior fitness levels, but the mood in the jackarmy.net camp has been cautious this week with no player willing to give anything away about their thoughts on the outcome of the second leg.

Whatever the result, once again the day will be a great day for Welsh football and I’m sure the Jacks will show the grit and determination that will bring the Billy Ayre trophy back to Swansea.
