Another New Signing

With Alan Tate facing a suspension for 5 yellow cards and Michael Howard carrying a niggling injury, Flynn has moved quickly to bring in a player that can play centre half or left back equally as comfortably.

Hylton is an England Under-20 international and will join up with Swansea after appearing for his country on Thursday night against Germany in Reading. Speaking on the Official site, Flynn explained ” Alan Tate is definitely missing at the weekend and Michael Howard’s condition is not going to get any better. He wants to continue playing and he should be able to, but we know that the way it is looking, he is going to need an operation sooner or later. He is also just one more booking from a two game suspension, so having Leon here gives us that extra cover which will be important with so many big games coming up. I’ve seen Leon play many times, including when our reserves faced Villa a few months back and I’ve been impressed every time. He’s not played for the first team yet, but he is a quality young player who gets stuck in and is more than capable of handling the physical side of life in Division Three. I’ve spoken to him and he wants to help us, he is very keen to meet up with the squad and get started.”

Credit must go to Flynn for moving quickly when he foresees a problem and also to the board for sanctioning yet another signing. They may not be without their critics but even the most un-numerate of people must realise that these loan signings are not coming from the loan player fund which I believe bought in Tate and part of another signing. This is all being funded by the board and their backers.

Flynn was also dealt another blow today when it was revealed that Jamie Wood fractured a bone in last night’s win over Darlington and will miss 4-6 weeks because of the injury. The last player that Swans fans will remember suffering from this was David Beckham late last summer so expect the national press to keep you updated on a daily basis on the progress of Jamie’s foot.

There is also renewed optimism that the Swans can now avoid the drop after being 3 league games unbeaten and with a trip to Macclesfield coming on Saturday we could find ourselves out of the drop zone come 5 o’clock that afternoon.

Things are looking up and after giving much criticism to Flynn I have to hand it to him for the way that he has turned things around in the last couple of weeks and I hope and pray that we keep this going between now and May.
