Transfer Deadline Day

The most obvious signing for Flynn at the moment would be a permanent one with the club already having seven players on loan. With one discretion outside league rules already, a punishment that the club should hear about tomorrow, we can ill afford too many loan players which will not affect the matchday squad in that much depth.
Flynn will certainly be moving to extend the loan period of Neil Cutler until the end of the season. He has long since stated that he would have wanted another goalkeeper ahead of deadline day and Cutler has proved himself an able replacement for Roger who is now very close to full fitness.
With four other loan players seemingly part of Flynn’s first choice eleven (Leon Hylton, Alan Tate, Leon Britton and Brad Maylett) it leaves his options narrowed as to what a new loan player could bring. His worries have been eased slightly by the injury to Hylton meaning a gap for one player which is more likely to be Marc Richards.
Whether Flynn can find another player to join on a permanent basis remains to be seen but this seems the most likely option. Fans are of the opinion that we need a striker who can get us the goals to secure safety although I have doubts whether we create enough chances for this to make a big difference to our side. In Thomas, Nugent and to an extent Richards we have three strikers who know where the net is – creation has been a problem of ours for some years now. I don’t see that a striker could add much to what we have unless you fancy Thierry Henry!!!
A midfielder could be a valued addition to the side and maybe one that can play wide left although at the moment we seem to have the foundations of a good midfield with Britton, Johnrose and Martinez. If I was to swap this around I would try Britton with a free role behind the front two playing Martinez, Maylett and Johnrose in the middle of the park (Johnrose being the central of the three)
At this moment I am not convinced that we need additions to the squad unless it is just to bring us strength in depth but it surely has to be a permanent signing. At the moment he can accomodate a loan player in the matchday squad but the return of Hylton is a couple of weeks and we cannot.
Of course this is pure speculation at the moment it is what is on the mind of Brian Flynn that will decide what we are doing (plus the financial budgets available in the club) and yet again we sit and wait to see if another Swans player will make their debut this season.
The fight goes on and by Thursday evening we will know which players will lead us into it.
