Phillips should have been brought on for Watkin/Maylett and given the brief of man marking Beagrie. When Durkan came on it made little difference as it didn’t seem clear if he knew what position he was to play in.

Flynn/Reeves seemed oblivious to the threat posed by Beagrie who was allowed to dominate the last 30 mins. Had Torpey played we wouldn’t have got off the hook.

If you recall the Wrexham match Williams had a massive amount of ball but couldn’t do anything with it. Thomas should have been brought on earlier.

In the Oxford match we were dead on our feet, particularly Nugent but we didn’t make the necessary substitution to bring on fresh legs. It is essential that we react quickly when we can see the game slipping from us. Flynn/Reeves seem to be too caught up in the game

In view of our poor goal diff I believe we need a minimum of 6 points from the last 4 games and quite possibly a maximum of 8. Shrewsbury have 2 games in hand, both at home, and surely cannot continue their losing run. I also think that Bristol R are capable of scoring goals which could see them winning a couple of games. The million dollar question is who goes down with Exeter ?

On current form that should not be us but we must get Thomas and Nugent back to give us the extra attacking options. Maylett flatters to deceive and is unlikely to score. Martinez, Britton and Johnrose have developed a useful partnership and if Smith/Tate can stay together then we have the mental strength and playing ability to get out of the mire.

We must not rely on other results as they could quite easily go against us. It’s in our hands!
