Get Involved, Be Involved This year’s election for the Trust Board is nearly upon us. If you think you can make a contribution then why not stand in the election? You can help to keep the Club moving forward by serving on the Board of the Trust. There are just four simple steps. Check below to make sure you are eligible to stand or Call 0797 382328 to register your interest and obtain a nomination form. Return the completed nomination form by June 30th – the closing date for nominations. Write a brief statement (100 words) about yourself for circulation to the members with the voting forms. If elected, you will serve for two years. The main qualification you will need is enthusiasm and a desire to see the Swans succeed through the club and the supporters working closely together. No experience is necessary. There is no pay. You will be expected to join the monthly Board meetings and contribute what you can in between. This year the Trust Rules require that five of the 11 elected members stand down. Although all are eligible to stand for re-election, it is likely some will not. The five to stand down this year are Huw Cooze, Ron Knuszka, Richard Lillicrap, John Parkhouse and Debbie Rees. Eligibility You are eligible to stand for election if • you are a paid up member of the Trust • you are 18 or over • you are not subject to a disqualification order under the Company Directors Disqualification Act • you have not been convicted of an indictable offence • you are willing to abide by the Trust Rules for the conduct of the election Nomination Form All candidates (including those seeking re-election) must complete a "Nomination Form". This needs to be signed by six other members who support your nomination (not as difficult as it sounds!). A full list of members is available for a nominal fee to cover printing costs. Alternatively, just ask around for people to support your nomination on your next visit to watch the Swans. The Election Process The election is by secret postal ballot. All members (16 or over) can vote. An independent professional Returning Officer runs the election. The election is a little earlier this year as the Trust has changed its year end to 31 May to fit in with the football season. Ballot papers will be sent out in the 2nd week of June. Results will be announced at the AGM to be held in late July. Nomination Form hotline 07977 382328 Why not check out the latest Vetch Verdict on the BBC site?
