The One Final Chance…. |
For those players that Kenny Jackett has not made up his mind about there is just one final chance now to show the manager that they deserve to be in his plans for next season. Back in March it seemed an odd time to change the manager but what it has done is to give Jackett time to assess his squad fully rather than coming in blind at the end of the season and make his decisions based on recommendations of others. He has had several games to have a look at the players in his charge and decide which ones deserve to be in his plans for next season. I am reasonably convinced now that his mind must be made up and next week he will have to start contemplating the job of telling those that are leaving that contracts will not be renewed. But there is still one more chance to impress Kenny for anyone over whom he is still unsure whether he wants to retain or not and that is, of course, York City at the Vetch on Saturday. It could also be the final swan song for some of the Vetch playing staff and I am sure that if it is to be just that then those players will surely want to go out on a high. It should also be, as Lee Trundle states in tonight’s Evening Post, a chance for the players to say thank you for the support that they have received this season from what is the fifth highest average attendance in the third division. It may have not been the finish that we envisaged at the end of August but its the finish that we have and it is one that we should enjoy after all it will be followed by 13 weeks with no league football! A meaningless game it may be league position wise but there is certainly still plenty to play for by some on Saturday? |
