Trundle Signs On

Lee Trundle has delivered a massive boost to the club by agreeing to a new two year deal that will keep the showboating one at the Vetch until June 2007.

Trundle, who signed at the beginning of last season, has long since stated his desire to stay at the Vetch and the club were naturally delighted to come to this agreement with last season’s top scorer.

Commenting on the signing, chairman Huw Jenkins told the official web site “From the Club’s point of view, from the supporters’ point of view and from everyone’s point of view, this is fantastic news. Kenny Jackett wanted Lee to be part of what we are trying to achieve over the next couple of years and this shows what Lee Trundle thinks of Swansea City Football Club and its supporters”

The signing of a new contact dispells any fears that the fans had that Trundle saw his future away from Swansea after some comments in the media. To be fair to Lee he has only stated his ambition to play at a higher level and the signing of this contract shows that he believes that that ambition can be realised with Swansea.

Again on the official site, Lee said “this is a sign that we are moving in the right direction and I can’t wait to run out at the new stadium in front of 20,000 supporters”

Trundle’s goals and showboating skills last season and this have seen him gain a spot on cult soccer show Soccer AM almost weekly and he very quickly established himself as a Swans favourite last season with over 20 goals for the club. Goals have been more of a premium this season with Lee on target just four times but he is closer to being at the top of his game and we are all hopeful that he will play a part in taking the Swans to the desired promotion in time for the move to the new stadium.

Lee himself promised Swans fans that he would score plenty more with his comments on Soccer AM a few weeks back and hopefully that will start with at least one tomorrow at home to Darlington.

Thanks for committing your future Lee – you know it makes sense!
