Defender Garry Monk had an interesting season in South Wales. Signed from Premiership Southampton by Jackett in 2004, Monk was a very useful addition. Monk played 11 times in the Premiership for the Saints and has been loaned out to 5 different league clubs.
Last season Monk played 41 times and added a much needed stability to the Swans defence, Monk hardly put a foot wrong and was unlucky to be sent off against Shrewsbury – Which earned Monk a massive 7 game ban from our friends at the FAW – Garry was then sent off twice more (against Yeovil & Mansfield). Most of the games he missed were due to suspensions.
The former Saints man has experience at League 1 level and should have no problem adapting to a higher level. Lastly Monk played in the last league game at The Dell and the last League game at The Vetch (little fact for everyone).
