The division’s top two both failed to collect three points as Brentford drew at Barnsley and Oldham shared the spoils at Colchester.

Brentford came from behind at Oakwell as Lloyd Owusu’s goal cancelled out Michael Turner’s own goal within the space of two first half minutes.

Barnsley’s Paul Reid saw red with just two minutes remaining for a second bookable offence, while Oldham played out a 0-0 stalemate at Layer Road.

Tranmere were solid winners at Saltergate as they claimed a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Michael Jackson and Gareth Roberts.

Bournemouth claimed an excellent win on their travels to Bradford as they came from going behind to a Danny Cadamarteri effort on the stroke of half time.

A Mark Bower own goal and an Andrew Surman strike doing the damage for The Cherries.

MK Dons threw away a two-goal lead at Bristol City as they drew2-2 at Ashton Gate.

A Clive Platt double gave them a cushion but City rallied in the second half and drew level through Steve Brooker and Matthew Heywood.

Nottingham Forest finally kicked off their season with a 3-1 on their travels at Gillingham.

David Johnson (pictured)got Gary Megson’s side on their wayat Priestfield in the eighth minute before Scott Dobie doubled their advantage just before half time.

Darren Byfield reduced the deficit with just over ten minutes remaining before youngster Spencer Weir-Daley sealed Forest’s win.

Port Vale’s excellent campaign continues after they picked up maximum spoils in beating Doncaster 2-0 – with goals coming from in-form Nathan Lowndes and Tony Dinning.

Steve Rowland somewhat marred Port Vale’s day when he saw red on 56 minutes for a second bookable offence.

Huddersfield beat Hartlepool on home soil 2-1, as two goals in the opening20 minutes from Pawel Abbott and Danny Schofield gave them control before Adam Boyd nicked a consolation in the second period.

Rotherham put struggling Blackpool to the sword 4-0 with Deon Burton grabbing a second half hat-trick after John Mullin had given them the lead in the first period.

The West Country derby was a lively affair as Swindon came from behind to beat Yeovil 4-2 – who had Efe Sodje sent off in the closing stages.

New boy Pablo Bastiani gave Yeovil the lead in the first period before a Terry Skiverton own goal drew Swindon level. Goals from Rory Fallon, Colin Heath and Christian Roberts gave Swindon bragging rights in the second period before Skiverton reduced the arrears with three minutes remaining.

Huddersfield Town are top of League One after a 2-1 success over Yorkshire rivals Doncaster Rovers at Belle Vue.

The Terriers had a two-goal lead at the break, as Chris Brandon scored after two minutes before Jonathan Worthington (pictured)made it two five minutes before half time.

A second half Michael McIndoe penalty brought Donny back into the match but their task was made harder after Lewis Guy was sent off late on for violent conduct.

Brentford came off the top of the table after a 1-1 draw with Gillingham at Griffin Park.

On-loan Nottingham Forest man Neil Harris gave The Gills a half time lead before Ryan Peters equalised with a quarter of an hour left for The Bees.

Rotherham United made it a miserable day for former boss Ronnie Moore after Deon Burton’s late strike gave The Millers a 1-0 win at Oldham Athletic to take them up to fourth in the table.

Port Vale were held to a goalless draw by struggling Milton Keynes Dons, whilst Scunthorpe United had to settle for a3-3 draw at Hartlepool United.

A Billy Sharp brace (9, 50) and a strike from Andrew Keogh (65) looked to have assured The Iron a win at Victoria Park.

However, a late Adam Boyd penalty after goals from Michael Proctor (6) and Eifion Williams (71) meant the points were shared in the North East.

A second half goal from Chris Greenacre gave Tranmere Rovers a 1-0 victory over Swindon Town at Prenton Park.

Bournemouth were unable to take advantage of Julian Bennett’s first half sending off for violent conduct, as they had to settle for a goalless draw with Walsall at Dean Court.

Veteran striker Shaun Goater scored two goals in Southend United’s 3-1 win over Essex rivals Colchester United.

In a noon kick-off at Roots Hall, the Bermudan goalscorer gave Steve Tilson’s side the lead after three minutes.

Sam Stockley levelled matters for The U’s on 19 minutes before summer signing Mitchell Cole restored Southend’s lead on the half hour mark.

The Shrimpers eventually took the bragging rights from the Essex derby clash when Goater found the scoresheet again 12 minutes from the end.

Ten-man Blackpool defeated Bradford City 1-0 at Bloomfield Road, despite losing centre back Rob Edwards to two bookable offences before the break.

Simon Wiles scored Blackpool’s winner with six minutes remaining.

Finally, Chesterfield heaped more misery on bottom club Yeovil Town with a 3-1 win at Huish Park.

Argentine striker Luciano Alvarez gave The Glovers the lead on 36 minutes before Paul Hall levelled matters just before the break.

Spireites substitute Adam Smith proved the match-winner, as his second half brace earned Roy McFarland’s side the three points in the West Country.
