Former Swansea City captain Roberto Martinez has been linked with a move to Swindon following his release from the Liberty Stadium at the end of last season.
Martinez was frozen out of the action as the Swans promotion attempt failed at the very last hurdle with the popular Spaniard unable to even command a place on the bench during the final few weeks. And he now finds himself linked with a side that did depart League One last season – albeit in the wrong direction.
Swindon, are under new management with former Chelsea midfielders Dennis Wise and Gus Poyet at the helm and they are facing up to the task of lifting Town from the basement division – some drop for a side that once graced the Premiership.
Swindon are, in fairness, being linked with a host of players including the impressive Rickie Lambert from Rochdale together with Andy Marshall, Steve Mildenhall and Bayern Munich midfielder Eugen Bopp.
The links are being made via thisiswiltshire.co.uk although the move for Lambert is being vigorously denied by Rochdale.
