The Football Association will receive a referee’s report that details why he felt the need to send Newport manager Peter Beadle to the stands and how fourth official Alan Sheffield was hit by a coin as a result of the incident.
Play was held up for a full eight minutes as the official received treatment on the pitch after being hit by a missile, later confirmed as a coin, from the Newport supporters enraged by the decision to dismiss Beadle just a minute or so after Izzy Iriekpen had headed the Swans into a two goal lead.
Sheffield was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital where it was later revealed he had problems with an artery in his head. Further reports suggested that opposing fans clashed outside the stadium after the game which Swansea won 3-1.
The incidents marred what was the first ever FA Cup tie between the two sides and spoilt what should have been a grand occasion for the Conference South side who lost their league status almost twenty years ago.
Goals from Trundle, Iriekpen and Britton gave the Swans a 3-1 win and a passage into Round Two.
